What Does "Nissi" Mean? The Story Behind One of God's Most Powerful Names

There's a name for God that doesn't get talked about nearly enough. And once you know the story behind it, you won't forget it.
Nissi. Or more fully, Jehovah Nissi meaning "The Lord is My Banner."
The name appears in Exodus 17, after a fierce battle between the Israelites and the Amalekites. Moses stood on a hill with his arms raised, and as long as his hands were lifted, Israel prevailed. When they dropped, the enemy gained ground. After the victory, Moses built an altar and called it Jehovah Nissi - a declaration that God was their banner, their rallying point, their source of strength.

A banner in ancient times wasn't just a flag. It was a symbol of identity and allegiance, the thing soldiers fixed their eyes on in the chaos of battle. It told them who they belonged to and which direction to move.
So when God is called your Banner, the meaning is rich: He is your focus in the confusion. Your identity in the doubt. Your victory before the fight is even over.
That's the heartbeat behind our Nissi collection. When you wear it, you're not just wearing a name, you're wearing a declaration. A reminder that on the hard days, the anxious mornings, the moments when your hands feel heavy and you're not sure you can keep going, there is One who goes before you.
You are not fighting alone. Your Banner has already been raised.
